Lost home ; surviving rental crisis ( it exists for the working poor and others regardless of the press )

I have been living with my family in a slumlord apartment with the help of The Fredericton Food Bank and many other underfunded non for profits in a corporate friendly world.

I lost my home to a crooked contractor in Miramichi which has been found to be fraudulent. Unfortunately I could not afford a lawyer at this time and the bank will get the house. We both got managerial positions here in Fredericton and are about to be pushed out of our apartment due to constant rental increases without fixing mold or other issues that are against the tenancy act.

The tenancy board itself has no teeth, is underfunded and overworked. The rents continue to climb without a cap allowing for a free market for those who can afford it or come from outside NB. It's really becoming difficult to "Just be here" or whatever our slogan was. The Manatee said it better with "Keep yer head down" If the public and political sphere don't stand up to what's happening and the monopolies squeezing the citizens out, I will eventually move my family to a province that has services and rents that make sense for what you get.
