Updates on Cross Town Trail

The City has been working through the winter and spring on the detailed design of the Smythe to Northumberland section of the Cross Town trail.

As a part of the City of Fredericton’s commitment to Active Transportation, the City will be starting work on the Cross-Town Trail connection this summer, starting with the segment between the Valley Trail and Rabbit Town Park.

The completed Cross Town Trail will connect a robust active transportation route through the downtown core giving city residents the ability to actively commute through the City without ever having to leave the trail.

We are exited to provide an update as construction will begin shortly!

One change to be noted from original renderings of the Argyle section of the trail, is that the street now has one way traffic with on-street parking, instead of two way without parking, as originally proposed. Through our engagement sessions, residents of the area expressed it was important for them to maintain the same amenities (including parking) in their neighborhoods.

We have added updated renderings on the right hand side of the project, as well as an updated trail map for the Argyle connection.

Should you have any questions about the project, please ask them in the "Questions" tab of the project.

See you on the trail!
