Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on LinkedinEmail this link
When the City of Fredericton joined the UNESCO Coalition of Inclusive Municipalities in August 2021, we began taking real action to change how we do business by putting community inclusion at the center of our operations.
So far, we’ve taken the following steps:
- September 2021: Established an Office of Community Inclusion with two new staff members assigned to this work;
- April 2022: Committed to establishing an Anti-Racism Task Force (April 2022); ;
- Spring 2022: Initiated several exciting projects and reached out to our to our community to help build our Social Inclusion Committee.
Now, we need your help to build a Social Inclusion Committee that will help to ensure that Fredericton is a City where everyone feels a deep sense of belonging. Please share your thoughts in our short survey, below (itshould take less than 5 minutes). Survey results will be considered along with staff expertise, best practices and budget considerations.
More about the Social Inclusion Committee
The Social Inclusion Committee will include members representing a wide diversity of cross-community perspectives. It will function as a standing committee under City Council and, in general, will make recommendations to Council and City staff to influence policies, programs, and initiatives. Eventually, the committee shall develop a Social Inclusion Plan to help guide the City . This plan will be complimentary to our municipal plan and ensure that inclusion is at the heart of all we do.
