The City of Fredericton is committed to following the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) as a recognized standard for public engagement. IAP2’s levels of engagement are outlined in this chart.

We think it’s vital that residents be involved in the City’s decision-making process and that you have a voice on municipal issues that affect you. Public engagement encourages participation, actions and personal responsibility, with the goal of more informed and, therefore, better decision-making.

Engage Fredericton, as part of our overall commitment to public engagement, is one way of ensuring residents are aware of engagement opportunities and that you’re able to contribute to our City’s growth.

Thanks for being here.

Please note: Planning and heritage applications have their own prescribed and separate legislative processes with timeframes outlined in provincial legislation. Therefore, they are not subject to IAP2 principles.
