Fieldhouse Feasibility Study - Community Survey

The City of Fredericton is conducting a needs assessment and feasibility study to determine the anticipated level of service needs and associated costs as they relate to fieldhouse facilities. The goal is to ensure the continued provision of current service delivery and where identified the provision of increased service delivery in a manner that is financially affordable, environmentally sound and delivers best value for residents over the next 25 years.

A fieldhouse is typically defined as a large indoor sport and recreation focused multi-use facility, largely providing infrastructure to support court and field-based sports such as basketball, soccer, volleyball, tennis, weight training, gymnastics, and track and field-based activities. Additionally, this type of infrastructure often includes community focused support spaces such as multi-purpose rooms, childcare facilities and eateries.

A community survey was conducted to better understand residents’ experiences with indoor recreation services and infrastructure and how the City can support needs. This survey closed June 9^th. Thank you for all who participated.

Responses will contribute to the determination of need through a Needs Assessment and possible sites will be evaluated for consideration through a Site Evaluation Matrix to conclude Phase 1. Phase 2 will consist of determining a Functional Program for the potential fieldhouse, Site Design Concepts, Class ‘D’ Cost Estimate, and Business and Operational Planning to for the final Feasibility Report, which will be shared publicly once it's completed.
