Share Just walked by the site of the "golf club road park" and noticed that the construction site next door for the apartment complex has damaged the majority of the mature trees that were supposed to be saved for this park. Can the city arborists please go visit the site and try to protect the remaining trees? They have construction equipment/trucks etc. parked by the trees and disturbing the tree roots. on Facebook Share Just walked by the site of the "golf club road park" and noticed that the construction site next door for the apartment complex has damaged the majority of the mature trees that were supposed to be saved for this park. neighbour asked 22 days agoThank you for reaching out! Our staff have visited the site and confirmed that the trees designated for preservation within the park remain intact.
The contractor for the adjacent apartment complex has been granted permission to use a portion of the park for equipment staging. While there was some damage to one tree during this process, the incident occurred a couple of months ago and has since been addressed.

Share 1. Are inclusive and accessible play elements included in the current playground concept? 2. To what level of accessibility is the design intended to meet (e.g., CSA Z614 standards, City accessibility requirements)? 3. What specific playground equipment is proposed, and which age groups will it serve? 4. Are there any special play structures included (e.g., slides, swings, climbers, sensory panels, balance elements)? 5. Josh Harris asked 5 months agoHi Josh! Thank you for your questions. Please see below:
1. Yes, the park concept will include an inclusive play structure, accessible surface area around the play structures, and accessible surface walkways.
2. The park design is intended to meet CSA Z614 standards. The paths leading to the play area meet accessibility requirements for surface material and slope, and the play surface will be fibre mulch, which the City is now using to improve playground accessibility. The design also includes at least one accessible play feature to support inclusive use.
3. A neighbourhood park typically includes up to four pieces of play equipment intended for kids ages 18 months to 12 years.
4. These details are still being finalized but would typically include some combination of swings, slide, spinner, etc. Selections for play equipment will consider input from public engagement including a workshop conducted with kids at Garden Creek Elementary School.
5. There is no specific theme planned, but some design features such as preserving some existing apple trees and a rock pile are being considered given the history of this property as a farm.
