A brand new neighbourhood park is on the way for the growing Golf Club Road community.

The park will feature:

  • An accessible walking loop with seating
  • Open green space with shade trees
  • A small playground with inclusive and accessible features
  • Gathering spaces for picnics, games, and teen hangouts
  • Future trail connections to surrounding neighbourhoods

Active transportation connections will link the park to the surrounding neighbourhoods in all directions, enhancing its role as a connected and inclusive public space.

Community feedback helped shape the design, with input from residents, students, older adults, ethnocultural groups, advisory committees, and more.

Construction is anticipated to begin in the fall with an anticipated opening date for Spring/Summer 2027.

    Hi Josh! Thank you for your questions. Please see below: 

    1. Yes, the park concept will include an inclusive play structure, accessible surface area around the play structures, and accessible surface walkways.  

    2. The park design is intended to meet CSA Z614 standards. The paths leading to the play area meet accessibility requirements for surface material and slope, and the play surface will be fibre mulch, which the City is now using to improve playground accessibility. The design also includes at least one accessible play feature to support inclusive use.

    3. A neighbourhood park typically includes up to four pieces of play equipment intended for kids ages 18 months to 12 years. 

    4. These details are still being finalized but would typically include some combination of swings, slide, spinner, etc.  Selections for play equipment will consider input from public engagement including a workshop conducted with kids at Garden Creek Elementary School. 

    5. There is no specific theme planned, but some design features such as preserving some existing apple trees and a rock pile are being considered given the history of this property as a farm.
