UPDATE: At its June 12 Regular Meeting, City Council approved a budget of $81.7M.

Check out the updated design renderings on the bottom right side of this project page. The final design reflects public feedback received during public engagement activities in March. More than 4000 people came to Engage Fredericton to learn about the project, and hundreds took the design survey and attended in-person open houses to share their thoughts on the design of this exciting project.

You can also find out how the City’s strong fiscal management has created the ideal conditions for this anchor investment which will drive prosperity in our downtown for generations to come.

Fredericton's new Performing Arts Centre will be a vibrant community space where everyone will be welcome. With construction set to begin this fall, this state-of-the-art building will be a prominent anchor of our downtown thanks to its prime location at the corner of Regent St and King St. This modern building will open a world of exciting possibilities for all to enjoy, from large touring performances of today’s global artists, to ballet and Broadway, to music of every genre, to local arts groups who will be able to perform in the smaller studio at an affordable rate. Hundreds of people were included in the design process: Artists, business people, cultural workers, local experts in building design and planning, and local indigenous elders shared their opinions and provided direction on the design. And we also asked residents for their help on a couple of key elements.

  • The colour scheme in the PAC's lobby
  • The brightness level of the building's outside signage (name, marquis, promo boxes)

The survey closed on Friday, March 31 at 4:30pm. You can find out what people chose here.

We also hosted Open Houses on March 26 and March 28 at the Crowne Plaza (659 Queen St) that were attended by hundreds of residents. Find out about the City's public engagement on the PAC here! All the feedback we heard was considered in the final PAC's final design.

The design of the Performing Arts Centre is made possible in part by the Government of Canada.
