Big Ideas Regarding a New Regional Pool

Note: In the past few days, we have received many Big Ideas regarding a new regional pool for the Fredericton area. Rather than answer them all individually, we are providing feedback in one place so it's easier for those who submitted an Idea on this theme to find it.

Thank you for your interest in a regional pool for the Fredericton area, which continues to be an important and the City is pleased to be a partner in the process. As you may know, the Greater Fredericton Region Aquatics Facility Feasibility Study has been received. The report is available on the website for the Regional Service Commission for the Fredericton Region. Here is the link.

Since that report was received, it has also been announced that the UNB Sir Max Aitken Pool will remain open until September 2023. That is good news for swimmers from the region.

At this point in time, all parties are working to determine the governance model to keep moving the project forward.
