More local artist wall paintings around the city to revive the brick! The addition of the new mural on Westmorland Street really pops.

Idea:

There are so many empty brick walls or areas with small tag graffiti; it would be great to see more local artist murals that make the city feel more vibrant and youthful.

Staff Feedback:

We love murals, too! The City’s Culture Plan identifies the need for small scale art initiatives to enhance public spaces, and murals are one of a variety of ways we can do this. In 2019 the City commissioned local artist Emma Hassencahl-Perley to create her mural A Love Letter to Woloastoq on the Pedway foundation located on the Southside riverfront walking trail. We will continue to explore opportunities to profile local artists through murals and other small scale are activities.
