St Mary’s (Sitansisk) First Nation Voting Member

Idea:

A representative of St. Mary’s First Nation should be invited to vote in all city council decisions. Wolastoqey people and ceremonies are impacted by council decisions, and their Nation should be offered a voice, and seat at the table when decisions are made.

Thank you for your suggestion. The City of Fredericton values the voice of all First Nations people within our City. Members of St. Mary’s First Nation who are within the City of Fredericton are eligible to vote for members of Council and/or run for City Council as part of the democratic process. As well, we are continually working with our friends and colleagues at St. Mary’s First Nation on a variety of initiatives.
