We need more family-friendly activities. Like on the North side alone it's bowling that's it. So we need more stuff for all ages.

Idea:

More family-friendly places to go.

Staff Feedback:

Thanks for providing your feedback to our Big Ideas question! Recreation staff are always looking for new and exciting family friendly programs and offerings to explore and implement within our parks and recreational facilities. This year, in addition to offering public skating within our indoor municipal arenas and at our many neighbourhood outdoor ice surfaces, a new family friendly skating loop was created in Carleton Park that was very popular. Use of the municipal trail system and snowshoeing also continued to be very popular activities with families this winter - with free access to equipment available through a City partnership with the Fredericton Public Library. Aquatic wise, a wide variety of family swim offerings are now available at the Fredericton Indoor Pool, with many more locations and program options soon to be available this summer at our outdoor pools and at Killarney Lake. In addition, as warmer weather arrives, you will soon see basketball, tennis and pickleball nets being installed at our many outdoor sport courts as well as the opening of our four municipal outdoor skateparks and Northside Youth Center (located at Willie O’Ree Place).
